Hi there!
I just discovered your blog through Laptop Lunches. I have been using Laptop containers for my boys (7&5) for about a month now. It is great to find so much inspiration here! My boys also have nut allergies (peanuts only) so I am always looking for new ideas. Thank you!!
Gabi
My son has been using his laptop lunch for 3 or so years now and my daughter was so excited to be in school all day so she could use hers like the "big" kids. I love to see what other people pack in theirs.
As far as I'm concerned all fudge should be nut free (we don't have allergies to nuts I just don't like them in sweet things)
I am glad you included the comment about the mini-toasts getting soft! We buy these now and then and I had thought they would make a good & cut sandwich for kids' lunch but didn't do it b/c i thought they would be too hard.
Also loving the other ideas I'm getting from your blog - my oldest is starting school this fall and I need some good lunch ideas . . . .
Thanks!
Thanks for the comments!
alsion - Yes, the mini-toasts soften, but not to be confused with fresh bread soft. I want to be sure I don't mislead anyone here. They are soft enough to be chewable (rather than their original hard crunchy state) when left in the container with other food from which the toasts absorb moisture. If you pack the night before, they will be great. Otherwise, be sure the toasts sit in the lunchbox for maybe three or four hours prior to eating.
I should point out that ALL things including the honeyed sesame sticks and the vanilla wafers all become softened - the only way to keep things from softening would be to put them in a plastic ziplock baggie, keeping the moisture at bay. Of course, this makes it hard to pack things like tortilla chips if your little one likes them to be crispy.
Have fun with all your lunches this fall!
